Social Worker

  • To provide a psychosocial assistance to the children in conflict with the law and their family.
  • To implement, insure and enforce the psychosocial wellbeing of the children in conflict with the law (CICL) in the Juvenile Justice project.

Tdh in its current programming in juvenile justice throughout MENA region has embraced the key findings that are common to juvenile justice settings across the region: state operated community based alternatives to detention are limited and services within the community to assist children to rehabilitate are also limited. Tdh Egypt moved along with two assessments done in 2010 and 2011 on the Egyptian juvenile justice system that highlighted findings and recommendations tabled in relation to gaps which exist across the juvenile justice spectrum:

  • Coordination between all juvenile justice actors – governmental and non-governmental
  • Psychosocial program in social care institutions for girls
  • Update of the database of the Ministry of Justice on juvenile justice
  • Intervention at police station level
  • Promotion of alternatives to deprivation of liberty

Based on the assessments, Tdh Egypt decided to implement a project to pilot improvements to the functioning of the existing system and its services and to introduce new services to support and strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of the juvenile justice system.
